World Youth Day (WYD) is a worldwide encounter with the Pope celebrated about every three years in a difference county. The most recent WYD was celebrated in Panama City, Panama from January 22-27, 2019 and is currently being celebrated in Lisbon, Portugal.
WYD is open to all young people who want to take part in a festive encounter centered on Jesus Christ together with their peers. This event is an opportunity to personally experience the university of the Catholic Church, and to share with the whole world the hope of many young people who are committing their lives to Christ and His Church. World Youth Day is a unique way to deepen your faith and grow closer to Christ, through prayer and sacrements, together with hundreds of thousands of other young people who share your interests.
Here are some photos of the current WYD:
There's been substantial progress on a number of projects. Please see photos below. If you have any questions please contact Merle Petz - mpetz@qhrwea.org.

Progress continues to be made on the creation of an updated Master Plan for Queen of the Holy Rosary Wea. The Master Plan will specifically address future needs for storage, meeting space, school/day care improvements and expansion, and Church accessibility, gathering space and capacity needs. The Architect has provided concept options of the campus that incorporated input from Parish Organizations, Town Hall Meeting, and online comments, The concept options were reviewed by the Building Committee, Parish Council, and Finance Council. Approval was given for the Architect to finalize development of the Master Plan based on the selected concept option. The selected concept option identified locations for a new church, day care and school improvements/expansion while retaining our existing historical Church and Rectory sites, while giving us the most flexibility to execute any improvements or new construction in a phased manner and retaining access to our current facilities. The Master Plan will include overall campus layout, campus space planning, Church floor plan, Church renderings/elevations, and conceptual cost opinion. Architect should be able to finalize the Master Plan by the end of May. It is important to note that this is a planning document and does not commit us to executing any particular element or a specific schedule. This is meant to be used as a guide as we chart our path into the future.

This issue won’t go away, and we have to remain diligent in how we function with respect to cybersecurity. We’ve all seen the news and probably have good firsthand experience with issues related to malware, ransomware, and identity theft. The perpetrators who are producing these emails & scams are getting really good. They’ve matured and can be very stealth in how they go about gathering information. Please click the link below from Catholic Mutual regarding Cybersecurity Best Practices.
With great delight we are experiencing a renaissance in altar serving by our Wea children. They are faithful, passionate and reverent and exude great joy in serving Jesus at the altar.
Many thanks to their moms and dad for fanning the love of Jesus in their tender hearts and encouraging them to serve at the altar.
The church has always hoped that great vocations to the priesthood, religious life and married life will spring from these courageous, faith-filled altar servers.

Please be aware there are some "bad guys" that attempt to steal money, gather personal identification information or do harm to our systems by posing as trusted officials asking for you to click on a link, open an attachment, or send gift cards. Some emails / texts look very official like they are from Father Jerry asking for gift cards or for you to help by clicking on a link.
Please see sample text one of our parishioners received. Father Jerry would never send anything like this.
How does this happen? There are programs that the bad guys develop that scour the internet, bulletins, and websites searching for email addresses / phone numbers, or they hack phones and gather the stored address books. They then send authentic looking emails/texts trying to scam folks. Again, just delete them. If you ever have a question as to the authenticity of a parish email, you can always call the parish office at 913-533-2464.
