The mission of QHR Pro-Life Ministry is to act as a liasion between the archdiocese and our parish to foster awareness of events and activities that parishioners could get involved in to support a culture of life. Each year there are multiple events available for the school and the parish to participate in. In addition, this ministry supports parish involvement in pro-life advocacy marches and gatherings in the public arena, as well as, sponsors of pro-life speakers at parish events.

On Friday, February 7, 2020 the “Value Them Both” Amendment failed to reach the necessary 2/3 majority vote in the Kansas House of Representatives. It received only 80 of the necessary 84 votes.
THANK YOU to everyone who prayed, fasted and contacted their representatives in support of trying to bring this amendment before the Kansas voters.
While it is disappointing that it did not pass at this time, “Value Them Both” will likely come up for another vote sometime this year. Pro-Life advocates will continue to work to educate key Representatives on how this amendment will help to save lives and protect women. The Archdiocesan website has information on what else you can do. Go to www.archkck.org for more information.
The Equal Rights Amendment (ERA) to the Constitution was passed by Congress in 1972 when two-thirds of each chamber voted for the amendment. However, it failed to achieve ratification by 38 states (three-fourths) within the 7-year time limit established by Congress.
Now Pro-Abortion advocates are attempting to resurface the ERA and advocate for its ratification as a way to make the unrestricted right to abortion enshrined in the U.S. Constitution. If you believe in the right to life and that every life is sacred, please inform yourself on this important issue. Go to the Bishop’s website at: http://www.usccb.org/about/
Unplanned pregnancies do pose real challenges in people’s lives, but killing the budding human life in the womb is never a morally acceptable option. Recently, when questioned whether abortion was a preeminent prolife issue, Pope Francis said, “Is it ever right to kill a child to solve a problem?” “No,” he said. “Is it ever right to hire someone to kill a child to solve a problem?” “No,” the Holy Father said.
